Florida Virtual School Changing Misconceptions About Online Learning

Online learning has been an educational option in Florida that has expanded over the last 21 years. In 2017-18, more than 207,000 students took an online course through Florida Virtual School (FLVS), a statewide online public school district in Florida. Although the number of students in grades Kindergarten–12 taking online classes continues to grow, there are still common misconceptions about online learning around topics such as rigor, pace, instructional support, socializing and acceptance.

Florida Virtual School Students Spend Afternoon Reading with First Lady Ann Scott

On Aug. 7, 2018, more than 30 Florida Virtual School (FLVS) Flex Elementary students visited the Florida Governor’s Mansion and had the opportunity to spend time with Florida’s First Lady Ann Scott. The First Lady enthralled the Kindergarten-5 students by reading from her very own educational children’s book, Ally & Jordi’s Adventures Through Florida. First Lady Scott released the book in January 2018 and has traveled around the state to share Ally & Jordi’s Adventures Through Florida with Florida’s elementary students.

Florida Virtual School and University of Florida Partner for Dual Enrollment Program

Florida Virtual School (FLVS), a statewide online public school district, is partnering with the University of Florida (UF) to offer a dual enrollment program for current FLVS Full Time high school students in the 2018-19 school year.
