This course will jump start your American Sign Language journey by learning the basics of this visual language and exploring the Deaf culture. Get ready to broaden your concept of communication through connections and comparisons to your own culture and community.

American Sign Language 2
Strengthen your understanding of American Sign Language by increasing your interpersonal, presentational, and interpretive communication skills. Continue learning about Deaf culture, connections, comparisons, and communities through engaging videos, interactive practice, and more.

Chinese

Chinese 1
Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Chinese language and the richness of its diverse cultures. In the Chinese I course; you will learn beginning grammar and vocabulary skills to help build basic fluency and language proficiency. You will explore the culture and apply what you learn through written practice, listening, and speaking exercises.

Chinese 2
Continue your journey in the exploration of the Chinese language and the richness of its diverse cultures. In the Chinese 2 course, you will sharpen the increased listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills you acquired in Chinese 1. While oral communication remains the main focus at this level, reading and writing will receive more emphasis as well. You will dive a little deeper into the culture and apply what you learn through written practice, listening, and speaking exercises.

Chinese 3
Learn more about Chinese culture, including the origins, anecdotes, and etiquette for various cultural settings, using authentic materials. You will also compare and contrast the Chinese culture with your own as you continue to build knowledge of vocabulary, sentence structure, and grammar.

French

French 1
Learn how to introduce yourself and others, share your interests, and talk about the weather, all in the language of Molière. Explore the rich culture of France including historical sites, foods, and sports through interactive activities, written practice, and speaking and listening exercises.

French 2
Expand your listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in French through interactive videos, dialogues, and self-checks. Grow your vocabulary and learn to discuss activities in the past, future, and conditional tenses. Explore the francophone world and the influence France has had across the globe.

Latin (FLVS Flex Only)

Latin 1
Introduce yourself to the culture and rich storytelling tradition of the ancient Romans through the study of classical Latin. In the Latin 1 course, you will build a foundation of grammar and vocabulary skills to help increase fluency and language proficiency. You will explore the mythology, history and culture of Rome and apply what you learn through translation practice, writing, listening, and conversation exercises, while reading Roman stories that have stood the test of time and tracing the Latin roots that run through modern language and culture.

Latin 2
Immerse yourself on a journey through Roman history using the Latin language as your guideposts. In the Latin 2 course, you will build upon your first level grammar and vocabulary skills to help increase fluency and language proficiency. You will explore the culture and apply what you learn through translation practice, writing, listening, and conversation exercises, while learning all about the different eras of Rome – from Foundation to Fall.

Latin 3 Honors
Strengthen your Latin vocabulary skills and develop an appreciation for well-crafted writing by visiting the library of great authors. You will read the timeless words of Roman poets, storytellers, and orators and recognize why Latin, and those who speak it, are still relevant today.

Spanish

Spanish 1

Spanish 2

Hebrew 1

You will explore the culture and apply what you learn through novice written practice, listening, reading, and speaking exercises.

Hebrew 2 - NEW!
Get ready to embark on the next leg of your journey to Hebrew fluency. In the Hebrew 2 course, you will continue building your listening, speaking, reading memorized phrases, and writing skills as well as increasing your cultural awareness of Israel through audio recordings, engaging images, interactive games, and readings. Apply what you learn through written practices and listening and speaking exercises. Take your Hebrew language skills to the next level!

Spanish

Spanish - Introductory
Join Juanito and Rosalinda on a trip to explore the sights, sounds, and traditions of Mexico. In this course, students will be introduced to the Spanish language and culture through vocabulary, songs, stories, videos, and more. Along the journey, students will meet the famous Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and learn the story of Araña Pequeñita. They will also record and listen to themselves speaking new words in Spanish.

Spanish - Level 1
Students will travel through Spain with Carmen and Mateo to experience the culture and traditions of this beautiful country. Students will continue to build their Spanish speaking and listening skills with new vocabulary, songs, and stories, and even play a Dominoes game!

Spanish - Level 2
Students take a trip through the scenic country of Peru, where they will learn vowel and letter sounds. Students will join Martín and María as they explore Machu Picchu and learn about the Peruvian culture with an authentic recipe for chocolate caliente.

Spanish - Level 3 
Daniela and Santiago guide students on a tour through the colorful culture and traditions of the Caribbean. Students will build on their previous Spanish language skills by learning how to ask and answer questions. Along the way, students will visit the El Yunque Rainforest and learn how to dance the merengue!

Spanish - Level 4
Students will experience the culture and traditions of this unique country alongside Mercedes and Armando. Students will continue to build their Spanish vocabulary, learn about verb conjugations, and use adjectives. Along the way, students will visit interesting places throughout Argentina such as Patagonia and the beautiful waterfalls, Las Cataratas del Iguazú.

Spanish - Level 5
Join Paula and Carlos on a tour through the beautiful culture and lush rainforests of Central America. With an emphasis on using mostly Spanish, this course will help increase students’ language skills. In addition, students will learn about greetings in different Spanish-speaking countries, practice writing in Spanish with a typing activity, and continue to practice their speaking and listening skills.

Immerse yourself in the Spanish language and culture. Develop your listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while broadening your exposure and appreciation for Spanish cultural similarities and differences.
